Hayley Purdon

Institutions: Faculty of Medicine and Health, School of Health, University of New England, Australia.

Supervisory team: Associate Professor Sarah Wayland, Professor Myfanwy Maple.

Position: PhD Candidate.

Current research: My PhD is capturing the experience of those with and without lived experience when it comes to the participation of people with lived experience of suicide, in suicide prevention activities within Australia.

Research Interests:

  • Lived experience (all things lived experience!)
  • Qualitative methods
  • Social justice approaches
  • Engagement/participation principles and frameworks

Can help with: If you have any practice related questions regarding embedding lived experience in research practice or suicide prevention more broadly, get in touch. I also love having philosophical discussions about things like insider status and lived experience knowledge generation. Any new connections are welcome!

What’s essential to your well-being? It is really important to my wellbeing to maintain good practice in self-reflection and connecting with other people with lived experience. I make sure to take time out to sit and think through ideas regularly.
