Institution: City University, London, England.
Supervisory team: Professor Rose McCabe, Dr Kirsten Barnicot, Dr Mary Lavelle.
Position: PhD student.
Current research: I am interested in understanding how people respond to traumatic experiences and the relationship between trauma and suicidality/self-harm. My PhD research focuses on trauma-informed care in the emergency department for people who attend following a suicide attempt or an episode of self-harm.
Research interests:
- People’s subjective experiences of suicidality, self-harm, and trauma
- Suicide prevention and service improvement in emergency settings
- The relationship between trauma and suicide
- Trauma-informed and trauma-focused care
- PTSD
- Stigma
Can help with: I would love to discuss new ideas in the field of suicide and traumatic experiences. I’m always up for a chat about pathways to PhD as well as the struggles of coping during PhD and planning future career paths, be it research or clinical psychology. I believe I can help with qualitative research, systematic reviews, research proposals, and translating to/from Czech and Slovak.
What’s essential to your well-being? My cat Monkey (who annoys me constantly, but in a lovely way), plants and green spaces in general, true crime, history (I’m really interested in war and genocide, Holocaust especially), mystery/escape the room/logic games, swimming, painting (despite a total lack of talent), cooking new recipes, drinking wine, definitely sleeping!
