Meryem Betul Yasdiman

Institution: Self-Harm Research Group, School of Psychology, University of Nottingham, England.

Supervisory team: Professor Ellen Townsend and Dr Laura Blackie.

Position: PhD Student.

Current research: I am interested in the impact of traumatic life events on individuals’ mental health. My PhD research particularly explores whether Post-traumatic Growth, positive psychological changes following adversity, plays a protective role in reducing suicidal thoughts.

Research interests:

  • Suicide ideation
  • Protective factors
  • Coping and Post-traumatic Growth
  • Mental health in veterans

Can help with: Qualitative interviewing, working with external organisations (e.g. charities), studying specific populations (e.g. veterans).
