Institution: Health and Social Psychology Research Group, School of Psychology, University of Leeds, England.
Supervisory team: Professor Daryl O’Connor (Leeds) and Professor Rory O’Connor (Glasgow).
Position: ESRC 1+3 PhD student, currently in the +1 master’s year.
Current research: My PhD research aims to explore the mechanisms underpinning childhood trauma, chronic stress and suicide. I am interested in how previous experience of childhood trauma can lead to altered stress responses and its subsequent relation to suicide.
Research interests:
- Chronic stress
- Self-esteem, impulsivity and executive function
- Effects of childhood trauma on suicide
Can help with: Applying for a PhD and generally anything related to quantitative research methods, including the use of SPSS/JASP. I am currently learning R and conducting a meta-analysis. I am always open to listen and chat with anyone!
What’s essential to your well-being? Outside of work: my two dogs, going out with my friends and trying to win the pub quiz every week. In work: organisation, coffee breaks, discussing all PhD related jargon with other 1+3 ESRC students and receiving support from my supervisor and lab group.
